Monday Messages Guide
Audience
Monday Messages are sent to all emeriti, tenured, tenure track and RTE faculty. (all academic titleholders are listed here,)
A small group of administrators also receive the Monday Messages.
Rationale
Monday Messages from the Office of the Dean of Faculty are:
- A simple approach to keeping the faculty informed about university-wide information.
- An attempt to prevent faculty from being further overwhelmed with emails.
Monday Messages are used for regular Dean of Faculty business such as:
- Announcements that relate to university lectures and the Faculty Senate.
- Classroom-related reminders that deal with semester start, breaks, and wrap-up.
- Events that address campus climate issues.
Rules
- Submit items for inclusion at least one week in advance to deanoffaculty@cornell.edu.
- Item should be limited to one or two sentences.
- Include hyperlinks to online resources within messages, for readers who require more information.
- Provide clear time and location information, as appropriate.
Events/documents that have broad audience appeal and speak to faculty matters or concerns.
